post-quilt life

Sun Aug 16, 2009, 12:44 AM
I finally finished my baby quilt! I'm really happy with how it turned out so I hope the parents like it too. It got delivered earlier today but I didn't stick around to see the wrapping come off. *crosses fingers*

It's a bit strange to not have a big project on after so many months. I'm trying to catch up on the things I haven't been doing in my spastic effort to finish the quilt. I've been hemming pants and taking in waistlines on skirts. Not to mention the resuable shopping bags I owe my bro...

I saw the first of the spring daffodils in the park this morning, so here's hoping that the worst of winter is behind us! Can't wait for summer to get here.

wekas, beaches, and respawn

Mon Apr 6, 2009, 12:40 AM
We spent last week touring and camping around the top of the South Island. It was great to get out of town and see some new places. The beaches were lovely and we managed to keep the wekas out of our tent. They are totally fearless birds but fascinating to watch. Despite the fact that we were travelling in Golden Bay, much of the sand was the light orange colour of jaffa biscuits.

I've just started a wholecloth baby quilt in the last week for friend Fud's second baby, due in July. Since the quilt for the first baby was the Spawn of Fud quilt, calling this one the Respawn quilt seems appropriate. I'll put some progress reports in my scrapbook as it comes along.

new year, new camera

Mon Dec 29, 2008, 12:28 AM
I got a new camera for Christmas, so I'm uploading a couple of my works from this year. I had a few months of no quilting, so there's not much to show for myself. (although I have done five placemats for a friend, but don't have pictures of any of them...). I just found out that two of my friends are having a sprog in July, so another baby quilt may be in my future.

I'm heading off to Nelson Lakes tomorrow morning for a few days of camping with friends. I'm looking forward to getting out of town for a bit. I'm also looking forward to looking out the window, as I won't be driving. Wheee!

Happy New Year to everyone out there, and here's hoping it's an improvement on 2008. :)

very sad

Sun Jun 1, 2008, 3:00 AM
My camera is broken, which is very sad. The lads at the camera shop said it was too old to repair. And I'm broke, so I won't be replacing it for a bit. Guess my cosmic dinosaur quilt won't get posted for a while.

Happy 2008

Wed Jan 9, 2008, 2:03 PM
I just got back from two weeks in California with dial-up internet. So happy 2008 to anyone reading this! I've got a few more days off work so I can try to unpack all the things I shouldn't have bought, and starting basting together my next project.
